Flights operated by ANA group will arrive at Terminal 5.

On the 1st Floor of Terminal 5 where you will arrive, there are immigration, baggage claim, customs and 1-STOP lanes. Passengers with a connection on American Airlines (AA) or United Airlines (UA) should proceed to the connection baggage counter for that airline. There are also Information and currency exchange and outside the exit there are areas for boarding/alighting buses and taxis. Passengers traveling between the terminals should take the escalator to the shuttle station Airport Transit System (ATS) between terminals.

Flights operated by ANA group will depart from Terminal 1 of Chicago Airport.

On the ATS Level of the Terminal 1 where you will depart from, there is a station for the monorail (Airport Transit System) that goes around all the terminals in the airport. Take an escalator from that station to the Upper Level and there is an ANA check-in and ticketing counters to perform check-in procedures. After the procedures, please proceed to the security check or fast track security screening. After passing through, on Concourse B, there are Information and United Club. Further on, on Concourse C, there are another United Club and the Polaris Lounge.

Transiting From ANA to Other Airlines

Airport Map Information

On the 1st Floor arrival floor of Terminal 5, there are the American Airlines (AA) connection baggage counter, United Airlines (UA) connection baggage counter, Information and currency exchange. There is also an escalator to the shuttle station Airport Transit System (ATS) between terminals. Outside of Exit 5E, there is a shuttle bus station between terminals.

About the transfer between terminals
  • The monorail (ATS / Airport Transit System) to transfer between terminals is available.
    ATS operating hours (daily): 05:00 AM -10:30 PM (Operating hours are subject to change without prior notice.)
  • Please get on the "Terminal only" shuttle bus outside the ATS operating hours. (Operates 24 hours a day)
    The shuttle bus runs in the order of Terminal 5 to Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 to Terminal 5.
    It takes about 20 minutes from Terminal 5 to Terminal 1.
CHECKING BAGGAGE
  • All customers are required to pass through the Immigration control and custom inspection checkpoints—no matter the final destination.
  • Your checked-in baggage must be picked up after completing Immigration control even when the final destination is printed on the tag of your baggage.
  • Please check in your baggage again at the connecting airline.
  • Check-in locations differ according to each connecting airline.

Connecting to United Airlines or American Airlines:

The connecting counter of United Airlines is located at the far end right side before the exit from Customs and that of AA counter at the left side (See Fig. 1), please check in your baggage here again. Check-in services are also available at this counter.

Connecting to Air Canada or Delta Airlines:

If your baggage tag shows the final destination, you can check-in the baggage at the baggage belt before the connecting counter of United Airlines. Please retrieve your boarding pass at the appropriate airline check-in counter in the departure lobby.

Connecting to any other airlines:

If your baggage tag shows the final destination, you can check-in the baggage at the baggage belt before the connecting counter of American Airlines. Please retrieve your boarding pass at the appropriate airline check-in counter in the departure lobby.

Airport Map Information

This is the O'Hare International Airport terminals map. Terminal 1, the ANA departure terminal, Terminal 2, Terminal 3, and Terminal 5, the ANA arrival terminal, are connected by the Airport Transit System (ATS), a shuttle service between terminals. There is also a shuttle bus stop for airport hotels located in between Terminals 1, 2 and 3.

Please confirm the terminal where your connecting flight departs from at one of the information boards located throughout the airport.

Transiting From Other Airlines to ANA
  • Passengers who arrive at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 must proceed directly to the departure gate.
  • Passengers who arrive at other terminals must proceed to the ANA check-in counter of Terminal 1.

  • Platform: Departing from outside of the arrival level of each terminal at doors 1E, 2D, 3F, and 5E respectively. Ticket sales counter is near the door.
  • Time required: 45 to 90 minutes (depending on the destination or on traffic conditions)
  • Fare: Oneway $117 to 146
  • Operating hours: 4:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. (10 to 15 minutes intervals)

Rail (As of December 2021, late night service from the airport station is suspended)

CTA Train Blue Line
ORD → Any CTA train station in downtown Chicago (such as Washington, Clark/Lake etc.)
  • Boarding point: CTA Blue Line station "O'Hare" is on the lower level of Terminal 2. The Blue Line travels above ground in the suburbs and below ground in the downtown area. For travel from the International Terminal to Terminal 2, the ATS tram that connects the terminals can be used. (Operates from 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily. Shuttle bus is in operation during other times.) Scheduled to return to 24-hour operation in the first half of 2022.)
  • Time required: Approx. 40 minutes
  • Fare: One way $5 (Inner city to Midway Airport is $2.50)
  • Operating hours: every day 4:00 a.m. to around 0:00 a.m. (3 to 15 minute intervals)

Taxi

  • Platform: From the curbside area after exiting the baggage claim floor. There are usually staff present.
  • Time required: 25 to 75 minutes (depending on the destination, on traffic conditions)
  • Fare: $50 to $80 (There is a $4 surcharge from the airport.Tips are separate and are about 15 to 20% of the fare)
  • Operating hours: 24 hours

Before Traveling to the USA

Passengers traveling to the United States from abroad must provide passport information and the documents listed here that are required for entering the United States.

Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA):

Passengers are required to obtain pre-travel authorization through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) to enter the USA under the Visa Waiver Program (see below).

  • There is a $14 charge.
  • ESTA must be completed before commencing boarding procedures for a USA-bound flight. Customers cannot board without travel authorization.
  • U.S. authorities strongly advise travelers who wish to travel to the USA to apply at least 72 hours before their travel date.
  • An ESTA application is required even when traveling to a third country via the USA.

Secure Flight Program:

The Secure Flight Program requires passengers to provide their passport name, date of birth and gender at least 72 hours prior to departure or at the time of booking if the reservation is made inside the 72-hour window.

Visa Waiver Program

The U.S. Visa Waiver Program (VWP) enables most nationals of participating countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for 90 days or less without obtaining a visa.

Travelers must have a valid ESTA approval prior to travel and must meet all requirements for the program.

  • If you prefer to have a visa in your passport, you may still apply for a visitor (B) visa.

Recent VWP Changes

Recent changes to the Visa Waiver Program prohibit the following customers from travelling under VWP; such passengers must apply for a non-immigrant visa.

  • Nationals of VWP countries who have traveled to or been present in Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Syria, Libya, Somalia, or Yemen on and after March 1, 2011.
  • Nationals of VWP countries who are also nationals of Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria.

A waiver may be obtained on a case-by-case basis for those who have traveled to the areas mentioned above for official duties of an international organization, regional organizations or sub-national government; journalists for reporting purposes; and legitimate business-related purposes in Iran and Iraq. Please contact your nearest U.S. embassy or consulate for waiver information.

Required Passenger Information

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration requires that all passengers provide the following information at least 72 hours before departure to the United States.

  • Full Name (the first and last name registered on your passport)
  • Date of Birth (according to the Western calendar)
  • Gender
  • Redress Number if you have one.
    • The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) grants Redress Numbers as a means of protecting passengers who may be incorrectly identified as being on a watch list due to various reasons, such as sharing a first and last name with a suspected terrorist.
    • Passengers will have to apply to the TRIP (Traveler Redress Inquiry Program) to obtain a Redress Number.
  • Known Traveler Number if you have one.
    • A Known Traveler Number is a PASS ID provided to members of trusted traveler programs, such the Global Entry Program. Those in possession of this ID are eligible for TSA PreCheck®, the TSA's expedited screening program.
    • Passengers who are eligible for this program are able to experience quicker process of U.S. airport security screening by passing through a dedicated lane and are not required to remove shoes, belts, light jackets, laptops and liquids. Children 12 and under accompanied by an eligible passenger may go through the dedicated lane as well. Learn more about TSA PreCheck®.

Enhanced Security of Electronic Devices

The U.S. has recently enhanced its security measures to include security checks of some electronic devices on flights bound to the US. Some electronic devices must undergo security check at the boarding gate based on TSA regulations.
